Holism

Emile dorkheim (1858-1917) is the founding father of holism with karl marx (1818-1883) on certain aspects in sociology.

methodological holism is a principle of method according to which the analysis must be part of the totality of the whole That is, of the collective which is more than the sum of the parts.

Difference between holism and individualism (max wiber) :

Holism refers to the idea that it is the whole that determines the parts as opposed to individualism or it is the parts that determine the whole

holism seen as an  autonomous and objective reality of which its members are only 
the representatives

The individualistic vision be that of a subjective collection made by the sociologist to solve a specific question.
