While the United Nations General Assembly has defined “violence against women” as “any gender-based aggression against women, which causes physical, sexual or psychological harm or pain.there's many effects of violence against women .


Psychological effects


The emergence of suicidal tendencies.

Exposure to depression and a sense of inferiority.

Exposure to anxiety disorders.

The emergence of disturbances in eating habits.

Loss of confidence and self-abasement.

Post-traumatic stress disorder.

Inability to make decisions or a sense of indifference

Physical and health effects:

Here are a number of physical effects of violence against women: 

Exposure to various diseases, including sexually transmitted diseases.

Abused women are subjected to spontaneous abortions, at a rate of 16%.

Abused women are exposed to premature birth, at a rate of 41%.

Exposure to sleep disorders.

Loss of appetite and disordered eating habits.

Here are a number of the material consequences of practicing violence against women:


The inability of the battered women to work or to be able to attend it regularly; Consequently, there is no financial income or loss, so that they are unable to support themselves.

Lack of access to the necessary training opportunities for work, and thus the lack of integration of women into the labor market.

The state does not benefit from the female component and involve it in advancing development and economic growth.

Increasing material costs for the state related to health care.

Social implications:

Tendency to drug and alcohol addiction.

There's many types of violence against women;

Domestic violence: It includes physical, emotional, sexual, economic, and psychological acts or threats that affect a person, and it is any pattern of behavior and control over a partner.

Sexual violence: It is any sexual act that is practiced against the will of a woman, and its forms include sexual harassment and rape.

Human trafficking: It is intended to possess and exploit women by various crooked means, coercion and force.

Child marriage: It is a marriage in which the age of the spouses or one of them is less than 18 years, and this violence is practiced against the woman through marrying her while she is a minor, which leads to her dropping out of education.

Violence via the Internet or digital violence: by practicing or inciting acts of violence through technology and digital methods; Including mobile phones, the Internet, and various social networking sites
